fbpixel FASFA Help | Reach Higher Montana

Reach Higher Montana FASFA Help (formerly College Goal) is an annual campaign to raise FAFSA awareness and provide free help to students and parents.

The FAFSA for the 2020-21 school year will be available October 1, 2019. Income information to complete the FAFSA will come from the 2018 tax return. Check our calendar to find an event in, or near, your community.

No events near you? Don’t worry. Here are some other ways you can learn more about the FAFSA:

What to Bring

If you plan on attending a Reach Higher Montana FASFA Help event, here’s what to bring:

  • FSA ID – get your FSA ID (user name and password). Both the student and one parent (if the student is under the age of 24) will need a FSA ID. The ID is needed to log on to several U.S. Department of Education websites to allow access to federal student aid information. It replaces the FAFSA PIN.
  • Social Security numbers (students and parents)
  • 2018 tax returns
  • W-2s
  • Additional asset information (savings and checking account balances, real estate excluding the home in which you live, money market funds, stocks, other investments)
  • Untaxed income information (child support received, payments to retirement, health savings plans and tax-deferred pensions)

Show us your #FAFSAface

FAFSAface We’re giving away a $1,000 scholarship to a Montana high school senior who completes the FAFSA by December 1 and shows us their #FAFSAface. To enter, take a selfie and mark, write or sticker #FAFSAface on it. Share the photo on Facebook or Instagram and tag #FAFSAface in the caption or comments. Finalists will be chosen starting Dec. 2 and a winner will be announced on Dec. 10, 2018.
